Statistical ApplicationsAt 2W Systems, we’ve developed many different statistical applications using SAS/STATâ, SAS/ETSâ, SAS/QCâ, SAS Enterprise MinerÔ, as well as SPSSâ and its AnswerTreeÔsoftware. Our years of experience lead us to the best solution for your statistical application. We sometimes apply a SASâ proc from one industry to create an innovative solution in another industry. Sometimes we transform the data in SAS for input into AnswerTreeÔ for a cost-effective decision tree-based solution. For example, we built several financial services applications using health industry-related survival analysis Procs LIFETEST, LIFEREG, and PHREG to forecast customer behavior. We have used actuarial-based models from the insurance industry using Proc NLIN from SAS/STATâ and Proc MODEL from SAS/ETSâ. We have based our analyses on the normal, lognormal, weibull, exponential, logistic, and gamma statistical distributions. We also used the SASâ output delivery system (ODS) with the macro language in conjunction with proc AUTOREG to create records for FASB (regulatory) reporting. We’ve developed other applications in the telecommunications industry using using SAS/STATâ to segment and profile residential and business customers by phone usage using Proc FASTCLUS. We used Proc DISCRIM to forecast segment membership from demographic information, likely to be found from customer records. In the utility industry, we created models using Proc ARIMA to forecast number of customers by rate class using SAS/ETSâ. We also used Proc AUTOREG to forecast natural gas use per customer by rate class. These forecasts were used for planning and rate case purposes. In the health and health care delivery fields, we have also used traditional econometric methods using SAS/STATâ and SAS/ETSâ to model patient expenditures in the Texas Medicaid Program, using Proc REG, GLM, LOGISTIC, and ARIMA. We have also forecasted the impact of a public health intervention. We used Proc ARIMA to model the impact of the change of the Texas motorcycle helmet law on head-related fatalities and injuries. We used that same proc to model the impact on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) of the American Association of Pediatrics recommendation on infant sleep position. In the airline maintenance industry, we created a model using Proc CATMOD in SAS/STATâ to predict levels of parts needed to insure adequate inventory levels. This application save the customer money by not having to wait for needed parts and not tying up dollars unnecessarily in inventory. In the semiconductor industry, our SAS/QCâ application using Proc SHEWHART and CAPABILITY have to develop a reporting system that gives engineers immediate feedback on chip manufacturing for production as well as research and development. Our vast experience over many industries gets the customer to the best solution quickly.
